Squeaks are a common development in wood floors caused by the shrinking and expanding of the wood due to humidity. The squeak is caused by boards rubbing together. You can: 1) Try lubricating the squeak between the rubbing boards with talcum powder, liquid wax, powdered graphite, or powdered soap. This fix will generally be temporary. |

2) The more permanent solution is to nail the boards at the area of the squeak. This process should be done by an expert. (If you are a handyman, use 2-inch finishing nails through pilot holes at the edges of the boards, then fill and refinish.) | ![]() |
